Duration Property
The Duration property allows coaches and athletes to prescribe, record, and analyze the amount of time spent performing an exercise, activity, drill, conditioning session, or recovery intervention.
Duration is one of the most flexible properties in CoachMePlus and is commonly used for cardiovascular training, conditioning, rehabilitation, mobility work, isometric exercises, recovery protocols, and workload calculations.
What Does the Duration Property Record?
The Duration property captures the total time spent performing an activity.
Duration can be recorded using:
- Hours
- Minutes
- Seconds
Examples include:
- Running workouts
- Cycling sessions
- Swimming sessions
- Mobility exercises
- Isometric holds
- Recovery activities
- Conditioning drills
- Practice periods
Duration Format
Duration is entered using three fields:
| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| Hours | 1 |
| Minutes | 30 |
| Seconds | 45 |
This example would equal:
1 hour, 30 minutes, 45 seconds
How Athletes Enter Duration
Athletes can manually enter the time spent completing an activity.
Example
| Exercise | Duration |
|---|---|
| Plank Hold | 90 sec |
| Bike Ride | 45 min |
| Recovery Walk | 30 min |
| Swim Session | 1 hr 15 min |
The completed duration is then stored for reporting and analysis.

Duration and Other Exercise Properties
Duration is often paired with other exercise properties to provide additional context.
| Property | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Distance | Calculate pace or speed |
| RPE | Calculate Session RPE load |
| Heart Rate | Evaluate physiological response |
| Weight | Track loaded-duration activities |
| Repetitions | Measure work completed within a time period |
| Velocity | Evaluate movement efficiency over time |
Example
A coach prescribes:
Aerobic Run
- Duration: 45 Minutes
The athlete completes:
- Duration: 48 Minutes
