In-App Support
Setting the right flow for a workout is key to a smooth training session. In CoachMePlus, the Set Order setting determines how an athlete progresses through the exercises and sets assigned to them.
Here is a breakdown of the two primary options to help you choose the right one for your program.
What does Set Order do?
The Set Order setting controls the sequence in which exercises are displayed and tracked. It dictates whether an athlete finishes one exercise completely before moving to the next, or cycles through several exercises in a "circuit" format.
Option 1: AABB (The "Straight Set" Approach)
With AABB, the athlete completes every prescribed set of a single exercise before moving on to the next one in the list.
How it works: If Exercise A has 3 sets and Exercise B has 3 sets, the athlete performs:
Exercise A (Set 1) -> Exercise A (Set 2) -> Exercise A (Set 3)
Then move to Exercise B (Set 1) -> Exercise B (Set 2)...
Best for: Heavy strength training where long rest periods are needed, or when training in a crowded gym where you don't want to "hog" multiple pieces of equipment at once.
Option 2: ABAB (The "Circuit" Approach)
With ABAB, the software treats the grouping of exercises as a circuit or superset. The athlete performs one set of each exercise in the group before returning to the start of the list for their second set.
How it works: If Exercise A, B, and C are grouped together, the athlete performs:
Exercise A (Set 1) -> Exercise B (Set 1) -> Exercise C (Set 1)
Then return to Exercise A (Set 2) -> Exercise B (Set 2)...
Best for: General conditioning, HIIT workouts, or "Supersets" where you want to keep the heart rate elevated or save time by resting one muscle group while working another.
